Bhu Pha Daeng Forest Park is located in Ban Pue Ampur, Udon Thani Province and Suwanna Khuha Ampur, Nong Bua Lum-Bhu Province. Bhu Pha Daeng is a forest park of 11,170 rais in Pa Kua Num Forest Reserve, Jum Pa Mong District and Khao San District, Ban Pue Ampur, Udon Thani Province and Suwanna Khuha Ampur, Nong Bua Lum-Bhu Province. The Forest Park was gazetted on 3 May 1996 by Royal Forest Department.
Topography
The Forest Park is a group of mountains on Bhu Parn Ranges but it is separated clearly from the ranges in the south. In the east and the west, the park is connected to the plain in all direction. Bhu Pha Daeng group is mountainous and is consisted of many big and small mountains respectively such as Bhu Klum Kao, Bhu Pa Peung, Bhu Mak Kliang, Bhu Na Pak, Bhu Buk Tui, Bhu Kaya, Bhu Kloy, Bhu Mok Hed, and Bhu Hum Ma. The highest peak is Bhu Pa Daeng Cliff and is around 300-400 metre high from sea level.
Flora and Fauna
Two main vegetation types are dry evergreen forest and mixed deciduous forest. Economic-valuable hardwood are Shorea obtuse, Shorea siamensis, Dipterocarpus obtusifolius, Dipterocarpus tuberculatus, Pterocarpus macrocarpus, Canarium subulatum, Lagerstroemia venusta, Dillenia Spp., Symplocos spp., Careya sphaerica, Calotropis gigantean, Buchanania lanzan, Phyllanthus emblica, Fagaceae spp. and Gomphia serrata. Dry evergreen forest is found along the stream and in the valley. Plant species found here include Anisoptera costata, Lagerstroemia cuspidate, Tetrameles nudiflora and Stereospermum cylindricum. Undergrowth species commonly found are Bamboo spp., Thyrsostachys siamensis, Gigantochloa albociliata, Cycas Spp., Memecylon pauciflorum and vine species. Wildlife can be seen here include Civet, Porcupine, Wild Pig, Hare, Pangolin, snakes and bird species such as Green Peafowl, Coucal, Barbet, Junglefowl and Woodpecker.
