Designated on the 17th June 1999, Doi Phuka National park is situated in the mountains of Northern Thailand. The park is named after the highest peak in the park boundaries, Doi Phuka, which sits at 1,980 meters (6,600 feet) above sea level. Being Northern Thailands largest national park, at 1,704 km2 size.
Topography
The mountain range within the park, Luang Prabang, ruggedly. Due to being created under the ocean, there is an abundance of limestone. Consequently, within the park are limestone caves, karsts, waterfalls, and fossil.
Climate
Three main seasons are characteristic in the park. There is they rainy season, May to October, with the peak rainfall in August and September. The cold season (November-February) is the most popular time to visit the park.
Flora and Fauna
There are three main different forest types found within the park. Mixed Decidous forest, Dipterocarp with Oak Forest and Hill Evergreen Forest. Besides, there is also rare plant - Chompoo Phuka Tree. This tree flowers in the month of February and fruits in the month of May. The flower, white rose in color, bloom in long upright racemes.
