Khao Ang Thong National Park locates in Ang Thong Sub-district, Khao Samui District, Surat Thani Province. The area is 35 kilometers west of Samui Island, and 80 kilometers northeast of Muang District, Surat Thani Province. The national park’s office is 145/1 Talard Lang Road, Talard Sub-district, Muang District, Surat Thani province.

Topography
Khao Ang Thong National Park consists of 42 islands. Its main islands are, for examples, Paluay Island, Wao Jiew Island, Wao Talub Island, Mae Khao Island, Samsao Island, Phai Luak Island, Kha Island, Hindub Island, Phi Island, Wao Khuntung Island, Mae Yud Island, Wao Te Island, Naiphud Island, Changsrome Island, Hanuman Island, Taiplao Island, Huaklong Island, and Kho Ban Island.Most of the islands consists of limestone mountains about 10-400 meters above sea level. Because the limestone can change its structure easily by both chemical condition and weather, so that makes the islands have many, strange-looking caves and cliffs, and some islands are looked like ancient Angkor Wat in Cambodia and Prasart Hin Pimai.

Climate
Ang Thong Island National Park has been influenced by monsoon that causes big waves and heavy rain, approximately 2,000 mm. of rain all the year round, and the temperature is approximately 23 degrees Celsius. The appropriate time for visiting the islands is between February and April, although the temperature is quite hot but the sea is calm suitable for sailing.

Flora and Fauna
Most of the area of Ang Thong National Park is on water, and only 18% on land which consists of limestone mountains, and thin layer of soil so that there are fewer big trees found. The forest is divided into four types as follows.
1. Semi-evergreen forest – the main plants are Indian oak, lady’s slipper orchid, and Calophyllum, for examples.
2. Beach forest – the main plants are tropical almond, seaside mahoe, Alexandrian laurel for examples.
3. Limestone mountain forest – the main plants are spurge (genus Euphorbia antiquorum), crinum lily for examples.
4. Mangrove forest – the only one plant is small-leaf mangrove swamp.
There are wild animals and sea animals such as spectacled langur, hill myna, parrot, Loma, and whale. This area, is the main breeding area of chub mackerel, the economically important fish, and has beautiful coral reef resuscitate in a large number.
