Wang Sam Mor Forest Park is located in Nong Kung Tap Ma District, Sam Mor Ampur, Udon Thani Province. Wang Sam Mor is a forest park of 18,750 rais in Pa Ma Yao-Pa Hua Na Kum-Pa Nong Kung Tap Ma-Pa Nayoong and Pa Nong Ya Sai Forest Reserve. The Forest Park was gazetted on 19 January 1984.
Topography
The area is generally flat and has Lum Pan Chart river, a large all-year-round running river, as a key feature. The islets and rocks scattered in the river are home for many fish species. In some areas, steep cliffs parallel with Lum Pan Chart river.
Climate
Wang Sam Mor Forest Park has three distinct seasons. Rainy season starts from June to October, Winter is from November to February and Summer is from March to May.
Flora and Fauna
The main vegetation here is dry dipterocarp forest with some mixed deciduous forest. Most tree species are small and medium size. Flora found here include Shorea obtuse, Shorea siamensis, Dipterocarpus obtusifolius, Dipterocarpus tuberculatus, Syzygium glaucum, Pterocarpus macrocarpus, Afzelia xylocarpa, Dalbergia oliveri, Vitex pinnata, Dillenia Spp., Terminalia alata, Lagerstroemia cuspidate, Morinda coreia, Anisoptera costata, Dipterocarpus Spp. and Hopea Spp. Undergrowth species include Dendrobium pensile, Alpinia malaccensis, Cycas spp., Chromolaena odoratum, Gigantochloa albociliata, Bamboo species and Wild flower. Wildlife left today is only small size animals such as Civet, Palm-civet, Squirrel, Ground-squirrel, Flying Lemur, Wild Pig, Monitors and many bird species.
