Lum Num Nan National Park located in Muang District, Phrae Province, and Thapla District, Nampard District, Uttaradit Province, and consists of complicated mountain range covered by forest, such as hill evergreen forest, dry evergreen forest, mixed deciduous forest and deciduous forest, which is higher than the highest water-level of Sirikit Dam. The area is the source of Yom River in Phrae Province and Nan River in Uttaradit Province, and about 999.15 squares kilometers or 624,468 Rais (all includes 203 squares kilometers of Sirikit Dam). It has been declared a national park since September 30, 1998.

Topography
The area is the source of water of Nan River and Sirikit Dam, and consists of productive forest, such as mixed deciduous forest, deciduous forest and hill evergreen forest, which has economically valuable plants, and many kinds of animals.

Climate
The area is in the area of monsoon climate which is damply hot and sultrily hot, the hottest is on daytime. The rains is from May to October, approximately 1,440 mm. of rain per year. The winter is very cold on the top of the mountains and mountain range which are suitable for traveling.

Flora and Fauna
The north part of Sirikit Dam has four types of forest such as dry evergreen forest, mixed deciduous forest, deciduous forest and grass forest. There are economically valuable plants such as teak wood, Makhaa Mong, Burmese ebony, rosewood, ironwood, Siamese sal, ingyin etc. And the animals found are mammal, reptile and bird, such as, deer, mountain goat, wild boar, Asiatic black bear, Malayan bear, palm civet, monkey, porcupine, fishing cat, pheasant, jungle fowl, mountain turtle, many kinds of snake and more than 200 kinds of bird.

Chieng Thong – Kiew Kien Road
From Chieng Thong Waterfall along Chieng Thong – Kiew Kien Road, traveler will pass the middle of rain forest which has hill-tribe people’s villages located periodically. The road has many view points, and goes along and through complicated mountain range which consists of productive dry evergreen forest and hill evegreen forest. When going higher the mountain, the weather is comfortable, beside the road are hill evergreen forest’s plants such as Prunus cerasoides D. Don, fern, and many kinds of orchid. Sometimes, there are a lot of ferns which is wonderfully big and high. For birder, there are many kinds of bird, which live in high mountains, seen along the road.

Chieng Thong Waterfall

Chieng Thong Waterfall
Chieng Thong Waterfall is a small waterfall near the road nine kilometers from Pra That Chor Hair, Muang District, Phrae Province. There is water all the year round, and has sidewalk along Huai Moon up to Huy Moon Waterfall and Doi Phar Mok Waterfall which is high and cascaded down many levels.

Phu Phaya Phor
Phu Phaya Phor is the highest point of Chieng Thong – Kiew Kien Road about 1,350 meters above sea level, and also the highest mountain bordering Phrae Province and Uttaradit province. Being respected by local people, this area has a view point which traveler can enjoy seeing vastly large forest until out of sigh at Sirikit Dam. The next part of the road is sloping down the mountain ending in Tha Plar District which traveler can go further to Lum Num Nan National Park’s office.

Sirikit Dam Reservoir
Sirikit Dam Reservoir, a big lake caused by Sirikit Dam blocking Nan River, has many islands, islets and beautiful sceneries suitable for traveling by boat. Traveler can sail from the Dam to the area of Sri Nan National Park, Nan Province. Traveling; use national road number 1045 (Uttaradit – Sirikit Dam) passing Ruamjit Junction (Thaplar District’s entrance) to Huai Charoen Village. There is a sign of Nan River National Park. Go on laterite road for another four kilometers to Lum Num Nan National Park’s office located near Sirikit Dam.
