Huay Lao Waterfall ForestPark located in Moo 4 and Moo 6 of Kaeng Sri Phoom Sub-district, Phu Lunag District, Loei Province, situated in Pho Kor National Reserved Forest and Phu Kratae forest, covered the area of about 2,125 rais. The Royal Forest Department declared this forest park on September 1, 1997.
Topography
It’s high mountain range. Phu Khor Yai Mountain is 200-800 metres above average sea level. It’s limestone and hardpan stone mountain where is the watershed area of important 3 streams—Huay Tham Kaew Stream, Huay lao Stream, Huay Din Lai Stream. Water flows throughout the year. It is fairly abundant forest.
Climate
Its climate pattern can be divided into 3 seasons. Rainy season started from June to September, Winter started from October to February and Summer start from March to May.
Flora and Fauna
It’s Mixed Deciduous Forest. Flora found consists of Pterocarpus cacrocarus, Xylia xylocarpa, Diospyros sp., Lagerstroemia sp., PU CHAO, bamboo and various fern species. Because Phu Kor and Phu Kratae is closed to Phu Luang Wildlife Sanctuary, therefore its flora found consist of Asiatic black bear, wild pig, Indo-chinese ground squirrel (small number of them existed), as well as various bird species.
